🔴 Air Defences Activated Over Qatar Amid Iranian Missile Strikes on US Airbase

Doha, Qatar – June 24, 2025 – Air defence systems were swiftly activated over Qatar late Monday night as Iran launched a series of missile attacks targeting a US military installation in the region. The US Al Udeid Air Base, located southwest of Doha and home to thousands of US personnel, was reportedly among the sites targeted in a dramatic escalation of regional tensions.

According to initial reports from US defence sources, the attack included several ballistic missiles and drones launched from Iranian territory. Most of the incoming threats were intercepted by allied defence systems, including US-operated Patriot missile batteries and regional partner capabilities.

Eyewitnesses in Doha reported hearing loud booms and seeing streaks of light in the sky around midnight local time, followed by a brief but intense lockdown in several areas surrounding the military base. Social media was flooded with footage of the defence responses and sirens warning residents to remain indoors.

Iranian state media has claimed responsibility for the attack, calling it “a justified response to recent US provocations and ongoing military cooperation with Israel.” The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement warning that “any foreign base involved in aggression will be treated as hostile.”

The Pentagon confirmed the incident but stated that there were “no immediate reports of US casualties” and that the base remains operational. US CENTCOM officials said they are assessing the situation and preparing for possible further retaliation.

Qatari authorities, while not directly involved in the conflict, have issued a statement condemning any threat to the region’s stability and affirming their cooperation with allied efforts to de-escalate the situation.

This latest development follows days of rising tension in the Gulf, with Iran vowing retaliation after a series of airstrikes on its proxy forces in Syria and Lebanon. Diplomatic channels are reportedly active, with emergency consultations underway among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members, the United States, and European allies.
