KANANASKIS, Canada (June 17, 2025) –
Former U.S. President Donald Trump rejected claims that he left the G7 Summit early to pursue a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. In a post on Truth Social, Trump insisted his sudden departure was “nothing to do with a Cease Fire,” calling the suggestion “wrong” and dismissing French President Emmanuel Macron’s remarks as “publicity seeking” .
Macron had earlier told reporters that Trump made an “offer” for a ceasefire before leaving the summit . But Trump countered that the matter was “much bigger than that”—and was unclear when pressed for details .
His departure coincided with a dramatic escalation in violence: Israel launched strikes targeting Iranian military sites in Tehran, killing hundreds, including senior commanders, while Iran fired drones and missiles at Israeli cities, resulting in dozens of civilian casualties . Tehran residents have been urged to evacuate as global tensions mount .
