Iran Refuses Fresh Nuclear Talks Amid Continued Israeli Attacks

Iran Refuses to Resume Nuclear Talks Until Israeli Attacks Cease

Tehran, June 21, 2025 — Amid escalating regional tensions, Iran has firmly declared it will not return to the negotiating table over its nuclear program until Israeli airstrikes and other military actions against its interests cease. The announcement comes as violence intensifies between Iran and Israel, raising fears of a broader conflict in the Middle East.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani stated on Saturday that “constructive diplomacy is impossible under the current hostile environment,” pointing to what Tehran calls ongoing “aggression” by Israel in Syria, Lebanon, and other areas.

“We will not allow dialogue on our nuclear rights to be manipulated under pressure or threats,” Kanaani said during a press conference in Tehran. “The path to diplomacy is open, but not under fire.”

The comments follow a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian-backed militias in Syria and reported cyberattacks that Iranian officials blame on Israel. In response, Iran has increased its military alert levels and warned of “measured but decisive retaliation.”

Meanwhile, international efforts to revive the 2015 Iran nuclear deal—known formally as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)—remain stalled. U.S. and European diplomats have urged restraint from both sides and emphasized the need to return to diplomatic negotiations to avoid further destabilization.

Israel has not officially responded to Iran’s latest remarks but has consistently argued that Iran’s nuclear ambitions pose a grave threat to regional security. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed this week that “all necessary steps will be taken to protect Israeli citizens.”

The United Nations has called for de-escalation and urged both nations to respect international law and prioritize dialogue. However, with trust at an all-time low and hostilities growing, prospects for renewed nuclear talks appear increasingly uncertain.
