Ukraine Launches Massive Drone Strikes on Four Russian Airfields

June 01.2025

In a significant escalation of its defense strategy, Ukraine has launched a coordinated drone assault targeting four airfields deep inside Russian territory. According to Ukrainian military sources, the strikes were aimed at disrupting Russian military aviation operations and damaging key infrastructure.

The drone offensive reportedly took place overnight and involved dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles. Explosions were reported in several regions of Russia, including near airbases used by the Russian Air Force for launching missile and drone attacks against Ukraine.

Although official damage assessments are still ongoing, early reports suggest that several aircraft and fuel storage facilities may have been hit. Russia’s defense ministry claimed that most of the drones were intercepted, but admitted that some had reached their intended targets.

The attack marks one of Ukraine’s most extensive drone operations to date and highlights Kyiv’s growing ability to strike strategic locations far beyond the frontlines. It comes amid heightened tensions and increased military activity as Ukraine seeks to counter Russia’s continued aerial bombardments.

International observers are closely watching the development, as it could signal a shift in Ukraine’s tactics—bringing the war deeper into Russian territory in response to continued aggression.
